In short
Demand peaks on long holiday weekends (puentes festivos), Holy Week, mid-year and December–January. If you prefer fewer people, go on a weekday or outside those dates.
High season and low season
Visitors come mainly on long holiday weekends (puentes festivos), Holy Week, mid-year and December–January. On those dates it is best to book your activity on the water and your lodging in advance.
On weekdays and outside the high season there is more availability and the reservoir is quieter.
What the weather is like
[Average temperature and rainy seasons confirmed with an official source, such as IDEAM.]
In any season the sun on the water is strong: bring protection and check the list of what to pack.
The water level
The reservoir's level changes with the plant's operation and the rain. In February 2026, for example, it reached 91.3%, according to Vanguardia (in Spanish). Before you travel, confirm the state of the reservoir and the docks with the operator.
